The many benefits of bathing in sea salt

The minerals in a Pacific or Dead Sea salt bath (such as calcium, magnesium, potassium) provide a wide spectrum of useful effects. Sea salt can help to stimulate circulation, ease muscle cramps, relax stiff joints, rid the body of impurities by shedding toxins out through the skin, aid in mineral absorption, as well as promote better sleep.

When making a salt bath, it’s best to use unrefined sea salt like our Pacific sea salt, and to set aside enough time for a good soak (at least 10-15 minutes) in water that's as warm as is comfortable. Take the time to make the experience as cozy as you like. Adding soothing lighting and some favorite music will help you relax and open to better enjoy the full experience.

How to prepare and enjoy a salt bath

To fully enjoy the benefits of a salt bath, follow these steps:

Step 1: Fill the tub

Fill your tub with water that is on the warmer side, or even quite warm if that feels good. Make sure the water is deep enough to cover your entire body in a reclining position.

Step 2: Add salt

Add salt to your bathwater. The recommended quantity of salt may vary depending on the type of salt used and the intended purpose.

As a general guideline, adding 1-2 cups of salt to a bathtub of standard size is usually a good way to start. Feel free to refer to the instructions on our individual products, and adjust to suit your personal preference.

Step 3: Mix and dissolve

Use a  gentle swirling motion to stir and help dissolve the salt. Take your time to entirely dissolve the salt so that the minerals are evenly distributed throughout the bath.

Step 4: Set the mood

Utilize all senses  and create an ambiance in your bathroom to enhance the overall relaxation experience. Playing music, lighting candles or dimming lights helps to create a full atmosphere of calm healing and rejuvenation.

Step 6: Enjoy

Slowly enter the water and immerse yourself, letting your body relax and soak in the benefits of the mineral bath. Stay in the bath as long as you like, adding more warm water. A good minimum to enjoy benefits is around 15-20 minutes. Two or three salt baths per week is a good frequency to enjoy ongoing benefits.

Step 7: Rinse

After you've finished your bath, be sure to thoroughly rinse your body with warm water to remove all salt. Gently pat your skin dry with a towel, as your skin will be extra sensitive, warm and pores opened. Following your bath is a great time to lock in moisture with some lotion.
